Warren in RomePianist, composer and producer Warren Bernhardt performs solo and leads his own bands (with whom he's recorded eight DMP albums). He was Steely Dan's pianist (1993-94) and musical director (1994), co-leader of Steps Ahead (1985-88) and is also renowned as an accompanist.

As a studio musician, Warren has recorded countless jazz/pop albums and more than 50 feature film soundtracks. He has recorded numerous educational videos, cassettes, CDs and DVDs for Homespun Tapes.

Recently, Hal Leonard published a volume of Warren Bernhardt transcriptions. He edited the English translation of Dance of the Infidels, a biography of Bud Powell, and recorded a 3-cd set of jazz and classical piano music. He recently played on vocalist Linda Ronstadt's CD of jazz standards. Then Warren toured the US and Europe with Simon & Garfunkel on their "Old Friends" tours, playing piano, Fender Rhodes and Clavinet. Last year he performed some solo classical concerts, and recently has appeared with saxophonist David 'Fathead' Newman. He is currently on a sabbatical, studying full time to be certified as a Pilates trainer. [complete bio]

WELCOME......

As you can see from above, I'm spending a year doing nothing but studying Pilates so that I can get my teacher certification in that field. I must tell you this, because I've never felt better in my life. I've always loved Pilates, and it had really changed my whole life, but studying the entire repertoire as a would-be trainer is completely 'over-the-top'. It also explains why I have been neglecting this website, and also why I haven't been too good in answering your many e-mails. My apologies.

Speaking of which: Good news for all of you who have heard the song "Felinicity" on the radio, and have asked me to burn you a copy of the CD "Family Album" which contains that particular cut. I have had so many requests from you all that I just couldn't handle the job. In addition, while digging through CD's in my basement, I found several boxes of the original "Family Album" (and also a couple of boxes of my CD "Reflections"), so now, at least for a while, you can purchase both of these CD's simply by going to Online Orders. I had no idea that so many of you folks would e-mail me. Thanks so much for your continuing interest. Also, my thanks to all of you who have e-mailed me concerning your progress as pianists after studying my educational materials. Kudos to you all, and keep up your good work.

Further good news: I've decided to do a little promo for my 'Solo Recordings' section. Starting immediately, any time you purchase anything from the website, I'll send you, absolutely free, a copy of my solo CD "Totally at Home" Volume I. This CD will no longer be for sale, but will be my gift to you for ordering anything else in 'Online Orders'. Take advantage of this offer right now, while supplies last. It's a nice CD, made here at home on my own Steinway.

FYI.....my educational series of videos, 'You Can Play Jazz Piano' is now available on DVD. All three volumes are still 90 minutes each, and can be purchased individually for $29.95, or the complete set for only $79.95. See the 'Educational Materials' section, or go to 'Online Orders' to get yours right away. Note that Donald Fagen's video, 'Concepts for Jazz/Rock Piano' (on which I play and interview Donald) is also now on DVD.

My most recent CD is with a jazz trio. It's called 'Amelia's Song'. This is a state-of-the-art recording which is available as both a regular CD and as a hybrid SACD (which will play -- according to your sound system -- either the regular CD sound, or a stereo DSDTM [Direct Stream DigitalTM] version and even a 5.1 Surround SoundTM version. They're all great sounding, but the 5.1 is SPECTACULAR! Even your pets will react to it. There are some stellar performances here by both Jay Anderson on acoustic bass and Peter Erskine on drums. Recorded and mastered by the great Tom Jung, and dedicated to my paternal Grandmother Amelia, 'Amelia's Song' feels to me like a very special set of performances. Jazz Times magazine says that this CD "....is as good as it gets...."

Don't forget that the same trio appears on my previous release, 'So Real' (also available in both CD and SACD), although the two albums are distinctly different in sound, content and mood.

I certainly hope that you'll find something of interest here on the website. As of now, this is the only place you will be able to purchase my CD's other than DMPrecords.com , and they only stock the two newest releases. Please sign in on my Guestbook page if you feel like it. I love hearing from you all.

Enjoy the music and stay in touch. And don't forget to place any order and receive your free solo CD.
